Do you ever wonder if Jesus was cremated, how would the story change?...So in the spirit of Easter, I give you few photos of Kiev's crematorium. Located in the 'Park of Eternal Glory' it was constructed in 1978 and designed by A. Myletsky
A cross between Ceausescu's palace and Michael Jackson's Neverland sprinkled with glitter and marble
I finally had a chance to see Mezhyhirya, former residence of ousted Ukraine's president victor yanukovych. My jaw dropped several times...my best description of the place is somewhere between Ceausescu's palace and Michael Jackson's Neverland, sprinkled with a "bad taste of oligarh" in the form of glitter, sparkle, shine, exotic woods and of course marble...one can never get enough of f#c%!^& marble! These are some of the photos of what I have seen.
The one thing to keep in mind is that most of the items have been removed, first 3 days of trucking when that dick fled, then by a day of looting, and finally over 500 items moved to a museum in the city of Kyiv (Kiev).
The estate is situated near the village of Novi Petrivci, on the banks of the Dniepr river and the whole territory is over 140 ha or 350 acres (in comparison principality of Monaco is ~195ha). From 1935 to 2007 Mezhyhirya was a state government residence until it was turned into a private property you can guess by who. Its hard to call this a "residence" though. The place is surrounded by 6m fence it contains a multiple palace like buildings, ultra-bling saunas, full size floating replica of Spanish galleon, vintage car garages, private zoo, tennis and gold courses, underground shooting range, 4 lane bowling alley, gym with about 20 exercise machines and boxing ring, hyper baric oxygen and salt chambers, hunting grounds, helipads etc. We will not likely know how much it all cost, but the estimates range from few hundred million to a billion dollars. According to customs declaration lists for the items imported for example, each of the Lebanese wood doors cost $64,000! You can see how many doors that place has.
The place is self contained and everything El presidente ate came from its own farm, and green houses. It also had labs to test the food for poison and massive ventilation rooms that cleaned the air coming into residence.
The scale of Mezhyhiriya is mind boggling, I am including an overview map and a virtual tour link where you can see the images from the drones and visit each of the houses. http://open-ua.com/en/kiev_region/mezhigorie/ There is a collection of antique cars at a car garage. You can see them via 3D tours here http://open-ua.com/en/kiev_region/mezhigorie/pano83/
And if it wasn't enough, at the time when dickhead fled there was Mezhyhirya 2.0 or a summer residence under construction in Crimea (where he took 800ha of endangered red pine forest). He also had a winter residence in Carpathian mountains. You can see photos and link for those at the bottom.
And here is the summer residence aka Mezhyhirya 2.0 Yanukovych was building for himself in Crimea
